Here’s Why You Should Consider a Winter Wedding on the Tweed Coast.

Recently engaged? One of the first big decisions you’ll have to make is choosing your wedding date. While many couples naturally gravitate towards spring or autumn weddings, we think the winter season is actually one of the best times of year to tie the knot here on the Tweed Coast.

We’ve been seeing a huge trend towards winter weddings over recent years – and if you’re a local, this probably won’t surprise you! Our winter season is seriously beautiful, with minimal rain, clear skies and pleasant warm temperatures. Here’s a little insight from the weather conditions we experienced on the Tweed Coast in 2019:

-The median afternoon weather temperatures across winter sat comfortably at 21 degrees in June, 22 degrees in July and 23 degrees in August, with many days creeping up to 25, 26 and even 27 degrees throughout the season!

-We experienced only 4 days of rain in July, making it one of the driest months of the year. Although we’re lucky enough to have some incredible all-weather wedding venues on the Tweed Coast, it makes sense to take advantage of these dry months if you’re worried about a rainy forecast.

-On average, the wind conditions throughout the winter months varied between a mild 5-12km per hour, making it an ideal season for outdoor or beachside weddings.

Along with the weather, winter weddings are always uber-romantic with dreamy golden sunsets, luxe styling and beautiful flowers in bloom. Take a look at some of our favourite winter weddings from 2019 below:

Although winter is an incredible time of year for us here on the Tweed, it’s technically still ‘low season’ for the wedding industry – so keep an eye out for any winter specials that may help you save some extra dollars.
