SIMONE + JEREMY :: RELAXED ELEGANCE AT FINS PLANTATION HOUSE

Simone and Jeremy’s modern garden wedding at Fins Plantation House was memorable for so many reasons. Not only was their day packed with romantic styling, delicious food and a beautifully emotional ceremony; these guys were also one of the last couples to host their wedding before the COVID-19 lockdown (with no idea at the time just how lucky they were!).

Choosing to plan and style the entire day themselves, Simone and Jeremy designed their wedding around a theme of “relaxed elegance”, complete with milky-white tones, earthy green foliage and soft blush accents. Guests were able to take full advantage of the Fins dining experience, with live food stations and free-flowing Aperol spritz on the lawn followed by an intimate sit-down reception.

From the super-chic bridal party ensembles (featuring a dreamy beaded gown and rose gold bridesmaid dresses) to the suspended floral arrangements and sun-drenched photos, there is SO much beauty to be found throughout this luxe hinterland celebration. Keep scrolling to see more from Simone and Jeremy’s Tweed Coast wedding below (captured by our friends at Ivy Road Photography), including the stellar team of local suppliers who made the magic happen!

ABOUT THE DAY//

80 guests. Relaxed modern elegance. Neutral tones with lush greenery.

I went for a modern dress with geometric beading, a dream dress. We kept the suiting light and bright, and all of the boys wore loafers – a fav shoe of choice for the groom. My bridesmaids wore beautiful cowl neck slip midi dresses in a light rose gold colour with neutral open toe heels and delicate pearl gold earrings.

Post-ceremony, we had a pop-up Aperol Spritz bar (my fav summer drink) as well as three live food bars with fresh locally sourced oysters & sashimi. Other food bars included dumplings, Bao buns, seafood skewers and duck rolls. All the food we love to eat! Following that was a 3-course shared grazing menu, platters of ceviche fish, paella and wagyu steak. Dessert was wedding cake and a cheese platter. We had so many compliments on the food and the service. Fins is the perfect venue.

ABOUT THE STYLING //

Relaxed elegance, with a neutral/light milky tone colour palette. I saved about a thousand photos from Instagram of everything I liked and referred back to these pics to inform styling decisions.

CEREMONY SONG //

A Savage Garden cover of ‘I Knew I Loved You’ by Mateo Oxley (Acoustic Piano Version). We wanted a song that described our relationship together.

FIRST DANCE SONG //

Alicia Keys Cover – ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ by Jordan Feliz. Something slow and romantic. Our first dance was under the night sky underneath the giant fig tree surrounded by all of our guests with sparklers. It was an unforgettable moment.

DIY PROJECTS //

Jeremy and I planned our wedding together including all the little details without the help of a planner. It was great to have some of our talented friends as suppliers and also guests on the night. Our long time friend Somer married us, Maggie made our beautiful cake and Soren took control of the dance floor post dinner!

I did design and make the table number signs, printed on white paper and presented in simple gold frames.

FAVOURITE MOMENT //

The ceremony was the highlight as it was so filled with so much emotion. My veil flew off twice during the ceremony because of the high wind but it didn’t bother me in the slightest. A really special moment during the ceremony was Jeremy’s dad, who is terminally ill, giving Jeremy the wedding rings. There wasn’t a dry eye there.

MEMORABLE DETAILS //

Jeremy’s best man is his identical twin brother! A lot of guests who hadn’t seen them both together were extremely confused on the day!

Our wedding was also one of the last before the Covid 19 lockdown and restrictions began on the 14th March. We had no idea at the time how lucky we were. We also had torrential rain both days either side of the wedding so we prepared for the worst, but the weather was beautiful apart from extreme wind during the ceremony.

NUMBER ONE TIP //

-All the little details you find yourself obsessing over, won’t matter at all on the day.

-Take a few seconds to step back from a couple of moments during the day and completely take it all in.

-Make sure you eat at the reception – it might seem silly but unless you make the time, you won’t eat much and you need something to keep you going on the dance floor later in the evening!
