Sharni + Wade :: Winter Wonderland at Summergrove Estate

Sharni and Wade’s Winter Wonderland wedding at Summergrove Estate has us all holding onto winter for just a bit longer. The day was beautifully captured by Ivy Road Photography.

The days leading up to a wedding is always filled with last minute items to tick off, add on the uncertainty of the NSW/QLD border, Sharni and Wade had the added stress of not knowing whether the day could actual go ahead. When their wedding day arrived, the QLD government announced that the borders would close 1.5 hours after their wedding finish – talk about timing!!

They were able to pull off their dream winter wedding and ended the night with epic fireworks to cap off their best day ever!

Read on for more about Sharni + Wade’s special day.

ABOUT THE DAY //

Our wedding was at Summergrove Estate in the Tweed Hinterland, the most perfect venue.
The weeks leading up to our wedding were very stressful as the situation in NSW was unfolding and getting worse. We were unsure if the day would go ahead and were just praying every single day it would.

Our wedding day came and the announcement was made that the QLD border would be shut to NSW at 1am, 1.5hrs after our wedding finished. The day was so perfect, the weather, the timing and everything in between. We were incredibly lucky to be able to sneak in our winter wedding dream before the borders shut.

Although a handful of family and important people missed out on being there for our day, I am so grateful I got to marry my best friend.

It was the BEST day ever!

ABOUT THE STYLE //

Winter wedding, warm tones with salmon coloured touch.

CEREMONY SONG //

Speechless by Dan & Shay. I chose it because we both love Dan & Shay and the song fit perfectly for us. I also had Wade turn around until the song hit the chorus and said “I’m speechless” then I was waiting at the top of the stairs.

FIRST DANCE SONG //

Yellow, chainsmokers remix. We chose this song because we both wanted something a little more unique than the standard slow dance. Plus we had fireworks so when the beat dropped the fireworks went off, it was magic.

FAVOURITE MOMENT //

It is hard to choose one moment because the whole day was amazing, but if I had to choose it would be Wade’s face when he turned around and the way he was looking at me and just so happy & sobbing.

NUMBER ONE TIP //

Take a deeeeep breath, it literally does go so quickly. You get so caught up talking to all guests so don’t forget to sit back and take a moment with your husband.

Also planning a wedding with covid around seems to be the new normal, I’m not going say not stress – because that’s impossible, but if it’s getting closer to your day and it still looks rocky with Covid around, have a plan B. Check with vendors and see if they are available for a second date for a back up plan.
