MAXINE + DANIEL :: GLAM ROMANCE AT OSTERIA

We’re a little bit in love with Maxine and Daniel’s dreamy Osteria wedding! From the soft pastel colour palette to the lush foliage installations and sunset portraits, this stunning Tweed Coast celebration is bursting with beautiful details.

These two tied the knot on a perfect winter’s day, describing their vision as “moody romance with lots of sparkle and just a touch of glam”. With an epic team of local suppliers on board, their celebration was complete with earthy floral arrangements, dark wood accents and an abundance of twinkling fairy lights.

Our friends at Figtree Pictures and Castle & Crown were there to capture all of the magic, so keep scrolling to see how this luxe Osteria celebration unfolded along with the talented team who made it all happen!

ABOUT THE DAY //

We chose to tie the knot on 11th July 2019, which was exactly 1 year to the date from when Dan proposed – it’s a little detail that will always be special for us. We were lucky enough to have perfect Aussie winter weather – a beautifully warm day with the clearest blue sky.

We wanted our ceremony to be a reflection and celebration of our relationship; lighthearted, fun and bursting with love. Our celebrant Andrew Michael absolutely nailed our vibe and had all our guests beaming with big smiles and laughter.

Our guests were entertained by the smooth tunes of Jake from Nick Trovas Band, accompanied by an impressive spread of platters in Osteria’s garden. Meanwhile Dan and I were whisked away for our location photos. We had an incredible team to capture our day – Figtree Wedding Photography and Castle & Crown Filmmakers. They kept us laughing and super-chilled while getting all the shots we could ever want, and giving us a few moments to also take in everything before heading back to celebrate with our nearest & dearest.

We re-entered the party as husband and wife through a canopy of fairy-lights and into Osteria’s reception hall – WOW! What our amazing vendors had created for us was like a dream – actually better! Beautiful flowers scattered along every table, glowing candles and dropped-lighting, all against the impressive high ceilings and fairy-lights Osteria is so well known for. The food was plentiful & delicious, and we had our speeches intermittently between courses before having our First Dance. Then it was time to party like no-one was watching! The dancefloor filled up in a hot minute, and Osteria’s Whisky Bar became the ideal spot to grab a quick cocktail & catch your breath.

It was all over in a blur, but it was pure magic and an absolute dream. We could not have been happier with each and every aspect of our day & the wonderfully talented team of vendors who helped bring it all together for us!

ABOUT THE STYLING //

I had fallen in love with Love Illuminated ‘Big Love’ sign; it was a must-have and became our ceremony centerpiece in place of an arbor. It essentially set the tone for the style I wanted to create – moody romance with lots of sparkle and just a touch of glam. Osteria offered that in spades with its beautiful gardens, plethora of fairy-lights and dark wood furnishings.

Jenna from JJ Style Co helped hone-in on that vision and brought it all together for us on the day – she exceeded our expectations and ensured that the entire process and day itself was effortless and amazing! Thankyou!

Florals & Co accentuated the mood perfectly with our arrangements; mixing earthy branches and bark, with soft lilac and blush roses as well as darker florals and berries. We used soft muslin gathered as table runners along the dark-wood tables, and spaced black vases and candlesticks intermittently. We also had a lush hanging installation courtesy of Elyssium Lighting; full of dark green foliage & mixed bulbs dripping from above. Our cake by Milk & Honey Cake Creative was a bit glam, and over-the-top delicious; creating a black base with a gold-dripping second tier and crisp white sugar-flower.

DIY PROJECTS //

Our lovely neighbour creates homemade soaps and candles, and suggested we could make something special for our guests as a wedding keepsake. We came up with two custom-scented candles ; Champagne & Berries, and Bourbon & Leather. We topped the candles with gold glitter for sparkle, and when guests opened them up to smell; they also got a lovely dusting of glitter over them haha! (wasn’t intentional, but ended up being a good laugh)

FAVOURITE MOMENT //

Picking a favourite moment from the day is almost impossible, as there were so many special memories. But for me, it was a quiet moment between Dan & I; watching the sunset together on our location shoot – the sun was shooting shards of golden light in all directions with the ocean sounds in the background and the nerve-wracking part was now behind us & it was only fun times ahead!

NUMBER ONE TIP //

Get it on FILM girl! – seriously! there is nothing like reliving the moments as you watch that video back, and share it with friends & family who maybe couldn’t be there with you on the day… it’s the best money you’ll ever spend on your wedding day.

Also, my work requires me to be highly organised and able to multitask and manage deadlines; so I thought planning a wedding would be second-nature for me. But I actually became overwhelmed and pretty stressed about it all, and in-turn that meant I didn’t really enjoy it much… until I sought the help of a stylist & coordinator. Saved.The.Day – Literally.

So if that also happens to you, just be kind to yourself and consider a stylist / coordinator to help bring your special day to life so you can really enjoy it!
