Love may be on hold right now, but what does love look like in 2021 (and the end of this year)?

As we have witnessed the COVID-19 pandemic unfold across the globe, we anxiously held our breath hoping that somehow Australia would be spared, and we could just continue living in our bubble. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. We are all in the midst of the pandemic sweeping our nation. One thing we know is that the next few months are going to be unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime.

So what happens once the pandemic runs its course? What happens when the light at the end of the tunnel can actually be seen? What happens to weddings being planned at the end of 2020, and in 2021?

So, what is the end of this year and 2021 going to look like for weddings?

2021 is shaping up to be THE biggest year for weddings in our history. Not just in Australia, around the world. The end of this year is also filling up with postponed weddings.

It is our bet that the weddings held at the end of this year and in 2021 are going to be some of the best parties and celebrations we have ever seen and/or attended. The whole COVID-19 crisis has really highlighted human resilience, and that love will ALWAYS win.

We are sure that there will be an unbreakable bond and ‘special club’ of COVID-19 couples and post-COVID couples that will be able to smile and give each other a knowing nod, when they mention they were married in late 2020 or 2021.

What do you do if you were planning to have a wedding in 2021 (or late 2020)?

Keep planning. Use the time in self-isolation to make some Pinterest boards, follow blogs and nut out your dream supplier list. With everything accessible at our fingertips, it is the perfect time to plan a wedding online. Many suppliers are also in isolation right now, so use the time to communicate with them, book their services, and create the day of your dreams.

If there is one thing for certain, it is that weddings will carry on after this and the industry will be bigger and better than ever.

When is it appropriate to book in a venue and suppliers for my future wedding?

Right now! Suppliers and venues need to keep moving, and you can help them do just that.

How do I even go about booking venues and suppliers at this time?

For venues, many can facilitate phone, Skype and FaceTime meetings. Some can even send you virtual tours of their venue spaces. So you can confidently book from the comfort of your home. Otherwise, if there is a venue you want to see in person touch base with them directly as they may be able to facilitate a private tour maintaining social distancing laws. You can see our full list of venues here

For suppliers, get in contact with them to find out the best way to communicate with each other. Whether it be a video call or simple email. They will be able to direct you to their portfolio of work and real weddings for inspiration. You can see our full list of 150+ suppliers here.

What if I can’t find the date I want?

Of course dates will be hard to come by after COVID-19, considering that the number of weddings to be scheduled in the final months of 2020, and 2021 will be increased like nothing we have ever seen before.

Our advice is to lock in a date soon if you have one that is close to your heart, otherwise be flexible with mid-week and off peak dates. We have seen enquiries for next year spike, and we anticipate that trend to continue.

Should I book a honeymooon?

Absolutely! If you are in a position to do so.

It would also be the perfect opportunity to support Australian tourism after the impact of the bushfires, floods and now COVID-19. So if you can spend some time in your own backyard, then we deeply encourage it. We have some honeymoon consultants on board that can help you plan the most incredible travel plans right here.

It is hard to not get caught up in all of the doom and gloom circling the globe. Our suggestion is to set your sights on a wedding date, and get excited. One thing that we do know is that this virus WILL run its course and weddings will regain momentum, and our industry will flourish once again with the most beautiful celebrations we have ever seen.

But for now, bunker down, research your dream wedding and we can’t wait to see the magic that you create post-COVID.

We’ve all got this!
