With a long engagement, Larissa and Ricky had three years to plan the perfect day Larissa had always dreamt of. The soft, romantic details of this wedding are endless and so perfectly compliment the stunning venue at Summergrove Estate. Ironically, despite all the wedding perfection, one of the Bride’s most memorable moments of the day happened outside the Summergrove Barn and Chapel, find out what it was and why you won’t see it in the photos!

Our wedding day was in the making for 3 years after our engagement in August 2015. I was a little girl that always dreamed about the ‘perfect’ wedding day and could not wait to start planning! We had all our favourite things – our best friends, closest family, donuts, great music and for me, lots of beautiful flowers.  We were so blessed that we could celebrate our day with our 8 month old boy, Archie. It was the most perfect winter’s day at Summergrove with the ceremony in the chapel followed by the reception in the amazing white barn. Our ceremony was full of laughs with Shane Vincent as our celebrant, followed by lawn games and canapes for our guests while we had photos with the fanatic views of the coast and the best sunset I’ve ever seen. We were dancing until closing time.

I would describe our wedding day as soft, elegant romance with lots of florals and garden roses. Our colour palette was soft blushes & grey, white, and hints of rose gold to match my engagement ring. Mandi from Ivy and Bleu worked with us for over 2 years planning our perfect style –  She did both our styling and all of our flowers for the day.

‘’I Get to Love You’’ by Ruelle was the song to walk down the aisle. We loved that it wasn’t a mainstream song and still every time I hear it I get goosebumps thinking back to the first time I got to see my soon to be husband. Then to sign our paperwork was ‘’Two Little Words (I Do)’’ by Reuben Koops and to leave the chapel we had ‘’Honeymoon’’ by Johnny Stimson.

For our first dance we had an acoustic version of the classic song ‘’Can’t help falling in love’’ sung by Haley Reinhart. We also took dancing lessons for 8 weeks leading up to the wedding that got lots of cheers from our guests!

Ricky was in charge of our wedding favours. He sourced local honey from a Gold Coast supplier and went to their hives to hand pour the honey jars a week before the wedding. They turned out fantastic and no one left their favours behind at the end of the night! I hand made the place cards, menus and had the invitations designed online and printed, then spend a few days putting them all together.

I would have two favourite moments from our wedding day. The first was the ceremony. When the doors opened to the chapel and I got to see Ricky for the very first time. It was like no one else was in the room and I could not wipe the smile off our face. Also reading our vows that we wrote for each other was such a special moment. My other favourite moment was the end of the night when everyone was leaving and we were the last ones left in the barn. The wedding coordinators drove us up to our villa and we sat together in the bathtub eating a donut that they saved for us and talked about how fast and how perfect the day was.

Invest in good suppliers! They are lifesavers and can make the biggest difference to your day. Also if your venue doesn’t include a wedding coordinator spend the money to get one, our day went seamlessly due to all the hard work and coordination of our suppliers and the coordinators at Summergrove Estate.
