How to Prepare for the Winter Wedding Open Day

Recently engaged or planning your upcoming wedding in the Tweed?  We’ve got you covered! The annual Tweed Winter Wedding Open Day gives you and your wedding crew a chance to tour the venues, meet and greet with suppliers and be inspired by incredible wedding styling. This year’s event is taking place on Sunday, 18th July and we’re offering our top tips on how to make the most of the Winter Open Day! Here’s six things you can do now to make things easier when the Open Day rolls around.

Get your support crew confirmed

Think about the people you may want to come along with you. Obviously your partner, but also you want someone who is going to think of the things that you might overlook (maybe your mum) and someone who is going to make it super fun like a bridesmaid or groomsmen from your bridal party! Be sure to RSVP and invite your crew  along with our Facebook event.

Figure out what venues you want to visit

There are 7 venues showcasing this year across the Tweed coast and hinterland so getting to all 7 in six hours will be pretty tricky. Think about your non-negotiables, this may help cross some off the list. Perhaps you want a barn wedding, a specific supplier you absolutely want to have at your wedding, or you want to be close to the beach.

Do some research on suppliers

You’ll find over 80+ handpicked local wedding suppliers showcasing at the participating venues, from stylists, florists and cake designers to musicians, transport, photographers and much, much more. You can see exactly which suppliers will be stationed at each venue here. With over 80+ Tweed Coast Weddings suppliers showcasing their creative flare and talents on the day and with all the activity at each of the venues it can be easy to get side tracked so we suggest doing a little research on suppliers before Winter Open Day.

Plan the day

The venues are open from 10am – 4pm, so you are free to explore at your own pace but also keep in mind that the venues are opened at different times so make sure to check out the different open times at each venue on the Facebook event and the event page to plan your day accordingly! There are also some activities that may interest you that are time dependant like the Tweed Eco River cruises from Ancora (departing at 9.30, 10.30, 11.30 and 1pm). Work your Open Day  journey around your key times, and don’t forget to consider travel time. Google maps is your friend!

Help us be COVID Safe

Each venue will have a COVID Safe plan in place, so every person attending will be required to check in at each venue you visit. You can download the Service NSW app now to save some time on the day. Download from the Apple Store here or Google Play here.

If you are coming to the day from QLD, you are still welcome in Northern NSW, as we are not in a red zone. You will just need to complete an entry form here – NSW Entry Declaration Form. If you are coming from a state other than QLD or NSW, you will find your entry form to complete here.

Make a weekend out of it

Regardless of how far the journey is to the Tweed Coast from your home, driving between each of the venues can take it’s toll, so we’d recommend making a little weekend out of it, book in a cute AirBnb or perhaps trial one of the resorts if you’re wedding guests are going to need accommodation, make a reservation for dinnercheck out the local producers in the area, or book in for a bit of pampering before or after the Open Day!
