On the blog

One lovely day in the Tweed Hinterland, two lovely people were set to marry, at a lovely Tweed Coast Wedding venue, surrounded by their lovely nearest and dearest. With a super short ceremony and no bridal party to worry about, the day was simple, effortless and full of LOVE.

Like many couples, Holly and David started with two colours as the base for their wedding style, and everything stemmed from there, “when planning our wedding we started with a colour scheme which was primarily green and white. We then based our styling choices around this and incorporated the colours through the floral arrangements etc. We just wanted our wedding to feel effortless and simply beautiful.”

“We drew a lot of inspiration from Tweed Coast Weddings! The blog helped immensely in the initial planning stages, from choosing our venue to all of our suppliers – it was definitely our go-to website.”

(Oh Holly, stop it, we’re blushing!!!)

“Our wedding day was celebrated at the beautiful Fins at Plantation House with our closest family and friends. The ceremony was held in the front garden under the Jacaranda tree with the most amazing view as our backdrop. Dave and I opted to plan a wedding that was more ‘us’ as a couple so we decided to have no bridal party, a shorter ceremony which incorporated some fun and loving stories about our time together and we wrote our own vows. Our celebrant Ben was awesome and really set the mood for the day!”

Walking down the aisle, ‘Over the Rainbow’ (by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole) was performed by Jake and Andy. Dave and I got engaged in Maui, Hawaii, so this song is special for both of us. Walking back up the aisle after the ceremony, we chose ‘Better together’ (by Jack Johnson), a song we both have loved for a very long time.

“After the ceremony, the food and drinks started flowing and we went off for our photos. The location offers many beautiful spots for your wedding photography, including a cactus garden (which was our favourite).”

As Fins is known for their food, the spread of culinary delights was a real stand out for the couple and their guests, “the food at Fins is spectacular, we had everything from sliders, ribs, cheese boards and everyone’s favourite – the dumpling station. This was all followed by a sit-down dinner which incorporated shared plate food options. The team also helped us with organising a round of Moet for our guests as we were introduced as husband and wife –  such a nice touch.”

“We both loved everything about the day and it exceeded anything we could have ever imagined!”
