This amazing same-sex hinterland wedding at Fins at Plantation House is one we certainly wish we could have attended. Not only for the sweeping landscape views or the incredible menu created by celebrity chef Steven Snow in collaboration with the couple but because this was one seriously entertainment-filled celebration! Super sweet wedding song sung by the niece and nephew of the couple, into smooth live acoustic sounds by Michael Eotvos, into a stand out fire twirling performance, into one final spectacular show… but we don’t want to be a spoiler. We’ll let dapper Groom, Chris tell you all about it…

After being together for 11 years and engaged for eight when the marriage act changed we started planning our wedding. We had looked at a few Tweed  Coast venues that didn’t quite fit us and had started looking at Brisbane venues when my parents mention Fins at Plantation House. So we visited a wedding open day and as soon as we got out of the car we knew we were at our wedding venue. It was beautiful, down to every last detail and for me, being an interior designer that was crucial. Morgan and her team were wonderful, they gave great suggestions and nothing was a problem tailoring the day to suit us. They offered the suggestion of Clarah Luxford our celebrant who we couldn’t have enough love and appreciation for, she literally is the best celebrant ever!

We wanted our family to be part of the wedding – our sisters were attendants alongside our best men, our nieces as flower girls, our niece and nephew perform our wedding song and another nephew Reuben was our MC for the day.

The reception started with cocktails and food stations including mez bar, scallop BBQ and Asian canapes while being entertained by the talented voice of Michael Eotvos and a fire twirler. Dinner was a seated shared feast, a menu we created with Fins owner and chef, Morgan and Snowy and our guests could not stop raving about the food. As dinner was finishing and people were getting a little chilled and perhaps a little tired we turned up the volume. In sashayed the fabulous Shu Shu Funtanna and Scarlet Fever, Brisbane’s foremost drag performers to get the party started and that they did. Everyone was up and dancing, spinning around with feather boa’s and the party did not stop. It was an amazing evening!

Masculine, relaxed luxury. I wanted a more casual wedding and Justin was all in for black tie. Fins at Plantation House was the perfect venue to combine our styles. Morgan and Snowy had done a fabulous job creating the venue and as an interior designer, the look and feel of the venue was top of the list. We were lucky enough to engage the services of The Perfect Party Company to help us realise our vision. Amey understood the vision on our first conversation and made us feel completely comfortable that she could deliver, and that she did! It was perfect.

Navy was the key colour on a backdrop of natural linen accented with gold and floral arrangements that complimented the venue and its beautiful gardens.

Euphoria by Loreen – We love Eurovision and this song won in 2012, the lyrics spoke to us and the euphoric feeling we had on the day. We wanted our family to be involved in the day and had my niece and nephew perform an acoustic version of the song under the guidance of Michael Eotvos.

Oh so too many to name, we loved it all. If I had to name a few, walking down the aisle to our niece and nephew performing, it was so important having family involved. Also seeing the enjoyment on our guests faces as well as the surprise of two drag queens sashaying in as they finished their meals.
