Brooke + Sam :: Summer Fiesta at Ancora

We love a real wedding here at Tweed Coast Weddings, especially when it’s one of our own suppliers! Brook and Sam are the owners of The Petal Prop Co. ,  an event hire and event styling company specialising in backdrops, balloons and props, and when we saw their summer fiesta wedding come through, we knew it was going to be an epic one!

Brooke and Sam held their ceremony at Lovers Rock in Tweed Heads, the perfect backdrop for the beach-y desert vibe they were going for and continued on with their wedding reception at Ancora. And when we say they sure know how to throw a party, we weren’t kidding! Margaritas on arrival, tequila shots during speeches, maracas for the guests, and a brilliant dress change for the most epic first dance, what more can you ask for!

While most of us can’t take a holiday overseas at the moment, let us live vicariously through Brooke + Sam’s Mexican summer fiesta inspired wedding. Keep reading for some major wedding inspiration below!

ABOUT THE DAY //

Our wedding was the best day of our lives. I can’t explain how amazing the day was, we couldn’t wipe the smile from our faces. We wanted to create a fun, relaxed and memorable day and I think we did just that.

ABOUT THE STYLE //

We wanted a fun summer fiesta style wedding as we met in central America whilst traveling in Dec 2015. We were inspired by the colours, the music and the good vibes of Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Our wedding ceremony was by the beach at Lovers Rock, we created a desert feel with our dried palm arbour and cacti that we had collected over the year. Once we tied the knot, the party began! Ancora was the perfect venue for our colourful reception, Mrs Gibbons absolutely nailed the brief and we were in awe of her floral installation on the ceiling. Our wedding was full of surprises and represented our personalities well; fun, creative & boozy haha. Our guest favours were mini tequilas, our first dance was literally a Reggaeton salsa (not really sure how to explain – see video) and our guests were greeted with a margarita on arrival from our drinks wall. It was SO MUCH FUN!

CEREMONY SONG //

Firestone by Kygo. We chose it because of the lyrics. Exactly how we felt when we met.

‘Our hearts are like firestones

And when they strike, we feel the love

Sparks will fly, they ignite our bones

And when they strike, we light up the world’

FIRST DANCE SONG //

It was a mixture of songs, a compilation to compliment our dance routine.

Higher love – James Vincent

Loco Contigo – DJ Snake Fest J Balvin & Tyga

Thinking out loud (salsa) – Antony Nova

DIY PROJECTS //

I made heaps ! The arbour, the stationary, the Photo Booth backdrop, the place cards & signs.

FAVOURITE MOMENT //

Cutting the cake – it was just so special as my good friend made it for us and the formalities were over. The party started!

NUMBER ONE TIP //

Enjoy the planning, it can be so much if you do what YOU want!! Stick to one style and try not to change your mind during the planning. It goes by so fast, I wish I enjoyed the lead up more.
