Weddings should be about love, commitment, storytelling and all that kind of stuff, of course, but they should also be about having the most fun possible, they should be an epic party that you and your guests remember forever and relive all the incredible moments over and over again – so when a Bride tells us that their “wedding was the best day of [their] lives” suffice to say we expect an epic celebration, hopefully topped with a little bit of pizazz. And fun, party and pizazz most certainly describe this wedding.

Beautiful Bride Brittanni, tells us all about their modern beachside celebration.

Our wedding certainly was the best day of our lives! It was the perfect celebration of us as a couple and one that we will cherish forever. Our wedding started with a beautiful ceremony at Lions Park in Kingscliff, where our fantastic celebrant (Cara from Modern Love) ran the show. Following the ceremony, our guests walked over to the Kingscliff Beach Hotel for drinks, whilst the bridal party got photos taken. Guests then made their way upstairs to Babalou for more drinks and canapes before the bridal party arrived. The reception then kicked off with entrees and speeches, and not long after everyone was on the dance floor! The dancing and celebrating didn’t stop until Babalou closed and Daniel and I were having such a blast that we decided not to do the traditional ‘exit’, rather we stayed dancing until the end with our guests.

The style of our wedding was relaxed and modern. We really wanted our guests to feel relaxed so we opted for a relatively neutral approach to styling, however used statement items such as large floral installations and a custom made arbour for the ceremony. We incorporated hues of pink and gold in the reception venue, which tied in nicely with the flower arrangements and hints of greenery. The inspiration for our styling essentially come from hours of browsing Pinterest! Our wedding planner was extremely creative so the styling was also inspired from many of the weddings that she had styled.

I walked down the aisle to the acoustic version of ‘Latch’, sung by our extremely talented musicians/DJ’s Jake and Andy. Daniel and I both loved how modern this song is and we wanted to steer away from anything too traditional. ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ was the song we used for our Ceremony, once we had been announced as husband and wife. As soon as we started planning the wedding we knew we wanted this song. It was the perfect track to begin the celebrations and get everyone dancing.

Sticking with our theme of ‘non-tradition’ we decided on ‘Jackie’ by B.Z Featuring Joanne for our first dance. We personally didn’t want to do the traditional slow dance so thought why not shake it up and choreograph a fun dance number! I used to dance and Daniel is known for busting a move or two so it was a perfect fit that we went with this option. It also started the dance floor for the rest of the Reception!

It is hard to think of just one favourite moment! Walking down the aisle with Daniel, knowing that we were now husband and wife, was definitely one. My other favourite moment of the day was after our first dance, when all of our guests joined in and started dancing with us. Soon after we both ended up on peoples’ shoulders dancing around. It was so much fun and something I will never forget!

Instead of purchasing gifts as wedding favours, we made a donation on behalf of every guest to the RSPCA. The RSPCA then provided each guest with a card thanking them for their donation. I absolutely loved this idea as Daniel and I adopted our Dog Ralph from the RSPCA. We loved the idea of donating the money to a good cause and the response we received from our guests was amazing.

My number 1 tip for Bride’s to be is to enjoy the planning process! Although it is stressful, make the most of planning the most exciting day of your life and savour all the memories you create along the way. Share ideas with your fiance, as it is so much fun when you are both involved. The day comes and goes so quickly, so it is important to reflect on all the fun moments both leading up to the wedding and on the actual day itself.
