Alyssa + Luke :: Osteria Wedding

“It truly was just the best day ever!! We wanted to keep it fairly small and intimate with just our closest friends and family, and had around 60 guests in total. We live in Canberra but I’m from Northern NSW and Luke’s from the Gold Coast, so it was a no brainer for us to plan the wedding in that area which feels like home to us anyway. The Casuarina Weddings portal was amazing and so, so helpful – we basically found all our suppliers (and endless inspiration) from there.”

Some words of wisdom from Alyssa is to “have time off together in the lead up to the wedding day if you can! It’s tempting to save all your vacation days for the honeymoon but we took a few extra days leave beforehand and checked into a nearby resort for a few nights, close enough to the venue so we could do some wedding errands when we needed to but also had plenty of time to relax and enjoy time together. We were so glad to have had those days to just chill out, switch off from work stuff, and really be in the moment when the festivities kicked off which was pretty much from the wedding rehearsal onwards.”

“We had our wedding on a Thursday and luckily for us our guests all really embraced that and most of them turned it into a little getaway which was fun. It had been a rainy start to the week but the sun came out the day of the wedding which had everyone cheering. It’s hard to pick just a couple of points from the day to highlight but the actual ceremony in the beautiful Osteria garden really stands out for us both. It was so heartfelt and our celebrant did an incredible job of getting to know us, working with us to make it so genuinely personal. And then there was just this feeling of so much happiness and celebration that lasted the rest of the day!!”

“We picked our band because we used to love going and hearing them play at some of our old hotspots when we lived in the area. One day, about 5 years ago, we were listening to them down at Coolangatta and they did an acoustic version of ‘our song’ and it’s been on our wish list ever since then to one day have them play at our wedding so having that become reality was just awesome. Getting our photos done with Figtree was a ball, and while we were doing that knowing the band were entertaining guests in the garden with their music while everyone was catching up and chatting was lovely.”

Alyssa and Luke describe their style as simple, romantic and pretty. We love the Casuarina area and as soon as we saw Osteria it just felt like a perfect fit -the venue was nice on its own and really didn’t need much done at all…that fairy light wall is magic and combined with candles on all of the tables, the effect of that alone was almost exactly what we wanted. All we added was some gorgeous flowers, matching stationary pieces, some photos from our engagement shoot which most people hadn’t seen, and a cake that looked so good it could have been a decoration (except it was way to yummy not to eat).

Another stand out would be making our entrance into the reception hall…seeing the beautiful set up that Osteria staff (thanks, Tessa!) and our suppliers had put together was the BEST, it was just like what we had been imagining but better, and on top of that having all of your loved ones in the one spot supporting and cheering for you on that most special of days is the greatest feeling in the world.

The rest of the night was filled with delicious food – we chose to have an Italian style shared feast -dancing, laughing, speeches, and cutting the cake, before we made our exit as husband and wife.

“To Debbie, Isabel, Tessa and the entire fabulous team at Osteria,

Thank you all so so much from the bottom of our hearts for creating the most perfect day for us to get married!! We knew the venue was what we wanted the first time we saw it (that fairy light wall ?) and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. The team were great to work with and made the organising easy, even though we did most of it from interstate.

You can’t go wrong with any of the options available but for us a garden ceremony, music and canapés in between and then the Italian shared feast dinner were perfection and our guests agree.

It was honestly just the best day ever and we love Osteria, no doubt we’ll be seeing you soon for some cocktails over the Christmas break!
