At a wedding venue like Tweed Heads gem, Ancora, where it’s as much about the outdoors as the indoors, balancing an indoor style with the natural riverside beauty outside, is so important. This remarkable group of suppliers, led by the style and planning team at Ivy & Bleu, effortlessly achieved this.

When asked what exactly Tweed Coast Wedding supplier, Ivy & Bleu do, Creative Director Mandi Turner answered, “what don’t we do?!” Creative direction, styling, planning, coordination and floristry for weddings, parties and events, plus DIY floral classes via The Academy – Mandi and her team certainly have their hands full, but she was able to sit down with us to give you the insider on the inspiration for this stunning shoot, chat about styling  a waterfront wedding venue and some upcoming trends to keep your eye on.

(Oh, and we should mention, that somehow Mandi also magically found the time to add another string to her bow, by being front and centre in the shoot as the lovely Bride to be!)

Quite often I am asked what my wedding would look like and when suggested for this particular shoot to have my face star in it I thought why not take the opportunity to style the way I would style my own big day (I have been married for 11 years so a wedding or vow renewal is really not on the cards.) Here at Ivy & Bleu our styling is quite unique in its soft, dreamy style and we love photography that is light and clear with a side of romance so Kaitlin Maree Photography was absolutely going to be our go-to gal! We used our favourite day to day flowers playa del blanca and quicksand but we gave it a little twist with a hint of lemon and lavender. I am 100% obsessed with this gelato colour palette and definitely think we will see a lot of this in 2019! The painted latticing was a last minute touch from Ivy & Bleu head florist Simone and the textural element this adds is just a heaven.

Ancora is absolutely our new favourite venue! That riverfront view combined with amazing package inclusions make it so easy to style no matter what theming or colour palette you have picked. From on trend bentwood chairs, epic bar lighting to the wicker hanging swings there are so many beautiful photo opportunities without having to travel and miss out on time with your nearest and dearest. It also means you can maximise your budget to include the other go-to things on your wedding planning budget.

I definitely think floor length tablecloths and French linens will start making more of a stand in 2019, that and an increase to floral density. 2017 & 2018 saw heavy foliage which was great on the budget but moving through 2018 & into 2019 we are starting to see a switch to dried botanicals and epic florals as a statement. It’s all about finding a florist or stylist who can help minimise certain components of your budget to maximise the big statement pieces you are looking for. In this photoshoot we used simple Columbian rose bridesmaids bouquets to allow for more statement florals elsewhere whilst still being uber contemporary and trendy.
